Mary Anna Kochenderfer Durst
Mary Anna Kochenderfer Durst, 87, died Oct. 7, 2015. She was born Jan. 22, 1928 in what is now German Village in Columbus, Ohio. Mary Anna was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church, and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, both in Columbus, Ohio. She was a student at Siebert, Barrett, and South High Schools, and of Capital University, all in Columbus. She moved to Texas in 1952, and spent most of the years there teaching, which she enjoyed very much until age 74. She shared her husband’s Lutheran ministry from 1952-1977. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mason, Wisconsin in her last years. Mary Anna and Ramona moved to Duluth, Minnesota in 2002, where they enjoyed the four seasons. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Ramona Anne Durst, her husband of 57 years, Raymond W. Durst, her mother, Lucile Reed Kochenderfer, father, William J. Kochenderfer, brother, Paul Reed Kochenderfer, and sister, Sarah Jane Hruska. She was also preceded by nephew, George (Bud) Rodgers, and stepmother, Lucille Rice Kochenderfer. Mary Anna is survived by her beloved son, John Reed Nedden-Durst, his wife Lynda, and two precious grandsons: Dylan Lee N. Durst, and Ryan Reed N. Durst of Cornucopia, Wisconsin, and her sister, Martha Kochenderfer Clark of Belpre, Ohio. She leaves ten Nieces: Rita, Judy, Esther, Janet, Tanya, Peggy, Suzanne, Rachel, Mary Ann and Luci, and six nephews: David, Mike, Orin, Adrian, Damon, and Tom. A private memorial will take place later. She most enjoyed her family, teaching, reading, and writing family history for many people.
