2016 Czech Music Gala Honorees
The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center announced the honorees for their 2016 Gala to be held in the Fair Pavilion Hall on December 3 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
Each year retired Texas Czech Bands/Orchestras or individuals are honored for their long-standing dedication to preserving and sharing Czech Music.
The 7th annual Gala will recognize three gentlemen who have contributed significantly to promoting and preserving Czech Music. They are a musician/music teacher/music historian and collector of Czech music, a polka show DJ, and an accordion restorer/musician and band leader. All have spent years in sharing their wide range of talents with the people of Texas.
They are George Koudelka of Flatonia, Johnnie I. Krajca of Ennis and Victor Caka and the Victor Caka Band of Shiner.
The Gala will begin at 6 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. There will be several activities along with historical displays throughout the evening. For the listening, dancing and dining pleasure of those attending, the Gala will be catered with delicious culinary creations by Bistro 108 and the music will be provided by the Czechaholics Band.
If you are interested in attending the Gala and supporting the TCHCC and its mission to preserve history and heritage of the Texas Czechs, contact Mark Hermes, info@czechtexas.org or call 1-888-785-4500 or 979-968-9399 by November 29 for tickets.
