Hans Georg Schroeter
Hans Georg Schroeter, 92, of Bellaire (formerly of Fayetteville), died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. Hans was born in Insterburg, Germany on Feb. 27, 1925 the son of Otto Gustav Schroeter and Else Kathe (David) Schroeter. He grew up in Dusseldorf Germany. After starting work for Mannesmann, he met the love of his life, Marianne Mallmann, whom he married in 1950. Shortly after the birth of his only son, Wolf, he moved his family to Jakarta and then to Singapore as Head Delegate for Mannesmann in Southeast Asia. The family then moved to New York, NY in 1961 and then to Houston in 1963 where he was Vice President of American Mannex. He fell in love with Texas and purchased property near Fayetteville. He would spend almost every weekend there turning the property into a nice ranch. Hans lived in Toronto, Ontario for several years in the 1970s as President of Canadian Mannex and American Mannex. They then moved back to Houston in 1980 and upon his retirement in 1985 moved to his beloved ranch. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; and son, Wolf Schroeter, of Houston. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Kurt and Horst Schroeter. Graveside services were held in Shelby Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018 with Rev. Fr. Nock Russell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Houston SPCA, 900 Portway Dr., Houston, TX 77024 (www.houstonspca. org).
