Dorothy Mae (Hassmann) Ellebracht, 86, of Schulenburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020.

Dorothy was born in Wilson County, on July 6, 1933, daughter of Arthur and Leona (Boldt) Hassmann.

Dorothy graduated college in 1977, she worked as an Elementary School teacher and taught for sixteen years. Before teaching she worked in banking, and was also a costume designer, sewing for private dance studios. After retiring she continued sewing, and quilting. She sewed children’s clothing and doll clothing. Dorothy also sewed hats that she donated to Texas Oncology for women that had lost their hair.

On April 27, 1996 Dorothy married Clinton Ellebracht in Fredericksburg. In 2010 the couple moved to the Swiss Alp community.

Dorothy is a member of First Baptist Church in Schulenburg. She was a member of Hermann Sons, of Schulenburg and German American Heritage Society. Dorothy was also a sunshine lady of PO.L.K. of A. In 2013, Dorothy proudly held the title as Senior Citizen of the Year in Fayette County.

She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Clinton Ellebracht of Schulenburg; three daughters: Marsha Davenport and husband, John of Bulverde; Mitzi Hazlett and husband, Ed of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Melissa Jackson and husband, Steve of New Milford, Conn.; step-daughter, Nanette Romanick and husband, Paul of Houston; eight grandchildren: Nick Hazlett and wife, Amie; Ben Hazlett; Zach Hazlett; Carter Jackson; Sawyer Jackson; Emma Jackson; Eric Luby; Brad Luby; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ginny Glowka and husband, Charlie of San Antonio; two brother-in-laws: Harvey Ellebracht and wife, Vernell and Sidney Ellebracht and wife, Betty all of Fredericksburg; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Roy Stapleton, Jr.; two sons: Michael Roy Stapleton and Mark Carl Stapleton; two brothers: Wayne Hassmann and James Hassmann.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Burial will be at Llano City Cemetery in Llano at 3 p.m.
