NVCC Donates Books to Public Library, Blankets to Monument Hill Nursing Home
Navidad Valley Community Connections is pleased to announce the open house for their new craft center. The open house will be held Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon located in “the old” Stanzel Airplane factory at 1201 Kessler Ave. Coffee, tea and cookies will be served along with door prizes. Some crafts will be available for purchase. Everyone is invited to attend.
NVCC recently visited Monument Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to give them some of the items created in the new craft center. Room decorations, a lap blanket/shoulder cover and some fidgets that were made by members in Crafty Corner on Fridays were donated. Crafters made these items for folks who have no visitors or close family, so that they have decorations in their rooms and/or on their doors.
The fidgets are designed for Alzheimer’s residents to keep their hands busy. Members really enjoy doing these projects, especially knowing they go to deserving residents in a variety of area nursing facilities. Herm Ramirez, Monument Hill Nursing and Rehablitation Center administrator, welcomed everyone to their open house on Feb. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. The public is invited to see the upgrades that have been made to the facility, and to meet Herm and the staff. They will have heavy snacks and beverages.
