A 21-year-old man, Jerry Shimek, lost his life in a two-car accident near Frelsburg in Colorado County on Sunday evening. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Shimek of Fayetteville.

La Grange public schools were to open on Monday, Sept. 11, according to Superintendent C.A. Lemmons. Miss Carol Lumpkin of Marlin, a summer graduate of Sam Houston State Teachers College, was hired to replace Mrs. Betty Henderson as home economics teacher. Lloyd Henderson of Schulenburg was hired to teach diversified occupations in the La Grange Area Vocational High School, which had a projected enrollment of 175 students in its new $225,000 building.
