Scharlett (Haynes) Kay, 85, of Muldoon, died Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her residence. Scharlett was born in Houston on Nov. 21, 1931, the daughter of James and Irene (Roper) Haynes. She married James Conrad Kay on Aug. 19, 1950 in Houston.

Jeremy D. Burns, 37, died April 20, 2017, at Seton Medical Center in Austin. Jeremy was born on Feb. 22, 1980 in Dimmitt to Jim and Sandy Burns. He was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, which played a role in his life, but never defined the man he became.

Milton Henry Gabler, 71, died peacefully while at home in Flatonia on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. Milton was born on Oct. 18, 1945 to Alfred C. Gabler and Elsa (Dieringer) Gabler. He grew up on the family farm in Freyburg, working the fields and tending to livestock with his siblings.

Ralph R. Mueller, born Dec. 8, 1933, died April 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mueller. Ralph was a gentle and quiet person. He was in the brotherhood at Zion Lutheran and attended church regularly.

Effie “Frances” Hollingshead Hinze was born in Dallas on Aug. 24, 1932 to Clarence and Cleola Hollinghead and died in Plano on April 4, 2017 at the age of 84. Frances grew up in Dallas, married Deroy Bolten, and moved to Sealy in the late 1940s.

Anita Laura Bell, 92, of Ashdown, Ark., died April 21, 2017 in Ashdown. Anita was born in Warda to Paul and Christiane Lehmann on May 7, 1924. She went to grade school in Warda and later earned a business certificate from a business school in Houston.

Joseph James (Jay) Ambrose, 91, of La Grange, was called to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, April 21, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Jay was born in Rochester, N.Y. on Feb. 19, 1926, the son of Antonio and Lucia (Rossolo) Ambrose. He married Helen Younger on Aug. 20, 1949.
