The Sacred Heart Holy Name Society had the reception of two new members on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Sacred Heart Church in La Grange. They were: Mike Kaspar and Keith Prause. The evening began with Holy Mass and reception of new members at 5 p.m. celebrated by Father Matthew Kinney.

Derick and Stacy Hudson of The Woodlands, announce the birth of their son, Liam Michael Hudson, born Dec. 28, 2015 at Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands at 7:40 a.m. He weighed 8 lbs. 11 ozs. and was 20 inches long. Sister Sophie Grace welcomed him home.

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association met Jan. 11 at the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall in La Grange with 28 members present. The members enjoyed social time prior to the introduction of the speaker, Ken Taylor. His topic: “Fayette County Road to Recovery Program”.

Erik Johnson, the local man who lost his right arm in a workplace accident in La Grange last Thursday, returned home this week following a five-day stay in Brackenridge Hospital. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Johnson and his family during their time of need.

The family of Paul L. Burnside has donated $5,000 to the La Grange Railroad Depot Museum in memory of their father. The money will be used in the restoration of the yellow 1937 wood-sheathed M-K-T caboose (numbered 835).
