High school volleyball teams around Texas can officially begin practice Wednesday Aug. 1. The La Grange Lady Leps will open their preseason with a new head coach, Leslie Coltrain, who was hired earlier this year from Tomball.

In the recent article about the Little League Champions in 1968, I would like to thank Daniel Kollaja for bringing back old memories. I was one of the younger guys on that team and couldn’t believe that I got selected to play with the older group. I was very shy and sensitive.

Sophomore running back J.K. Dobbins was recently named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, given annually to college football’s best running back. It’s the second watch list this week for Dobbins, who on Monday earned a spot on the Maxwell Award list.
