La Grange High School football coach Matt Kates said Leopard senior-to-be Alan Orona is “one of the Top 5 kickers in the state of Texas.”
Last week Orona cashed in on that ability, accepting a scholarship offer to kick for the Texas Tech University football team after graduation.

Schulenburg’s James Brossmann got a standing ovation from the crowd at Minute Maid Park at Tuesday night’s Astros game in Houston.
Every home game, the Astros honor select military veterans, and Brossmann was chosen for the honor this Tuesday.

The star distance runner and La Grange High School graduate has spent the last two years piling up national awards and junior college All-American honors at Allen Community College in Kansas.

Former La Grange standout softball player Missy Zoch recently announced that she is transferring play at Texas Tech, after two successful seasons pitching for DePaul University in Chicago.

The La Grange Junior Boys all-star baseball team swept Hempstead in a best-of-three championship series last week, winning 13-0 in the first game and 15-3 in the second game to claim the District 13 title.

Colorado River Cowboy Church welcomed 36 children to the third annual Buckaroo Day Camp on Monday, June 11. All 36 children attended three days of the camp. There were almost that many volunteers there every day to insure the children’s safety.

La Grange native Homer Bailey continues to try to work his way back from a knee injury that has bothered him for several weeks. Bailey pitched a rehab assignment in the minor leagues last Monday after returning from the Cincinnati Reds disabled list.

Three students with La Grange Unifi ed Tae Kwon Do were recently honored for high academic achievements with their schools. The criteria that Master Debra Filla required to receive the high achievement trophies was all A’s in all courses throughout the school year.

Four Fayette County softball players were honored by the Texas Girls Coaches Association as all-state players.
In Class 1A, Fayetteville sophomore Gracie Dyer was named all state.
Earning all-state honors in Class 2A was Flatonia junior Maricruz Gonzales.
