The Schulenburg softball team pounded Jourdanton 11-3 Friday in Marion to advance to the third round of the 3A softball playoffs.

The Lady Horns improved their record to 23-5 with the win as they collected 11 hits.

The La Grange girls have a lot of work to do if they want to stay alive in the softball playoffs.

They dropped Game 1 of their best-of-three area round playoff series Wednesday, losing to Lorena 8-3.

From Huntsville to San Antonio to Kingsville, Fayette County athletes competed in regional track meets Friday and Saturday with some exceptional results.

Schulenburg’s Cason Brown won the Region 4-3A discus title and Fayetteville’s Braden Rohde won the 4-1A 300 meter hurdles title.
