The La Grange girls basketball team travelled to Giddings Friday and knocked off the Lady Buffaloes 65-59. The victory improved the Lady Leps’ record to 14-13 overall 3-1 in district.

Friday’s basketball game between Hallettsville and Schulenburg was designated a “Hoops for Hope” game as the two teams united to renew a friendly rivalry while also joining forces to battle an enemy to everyone, cancer.

Jordan Marie Meiners, the 13-year old daughter of Chris and Tanya Meiners of Conroe and granddaughter of Bob and Carolyn Heinsohn of La Grange, won first place at the AS Bondy International Archery Tournament in Bondy, France, on January 6-7 in the 15-year and younger female recurve bow division.

LaAdrian Waddle, the great nephew of Tommy Taylor of La Grange and a former star player for Columbus High School and Texas Tech University, started on the offensive line for the New England Patriots in last week’s 35-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

The Fayetteville basketball teams swept Dime Box in district action Friday.
The Lions used a 19-point night from Jerrette Brown and 17 more from Damon Gerik to improve to 12-11 overall and 1-0 in district.

Late in the third quarter Friday a Caldwell girls basketball player saw a clear opening to the goal and didn’t hesitate.
She drove to the rim, and made a wide-open shot – in the wrong basket.
The Lady Leps gladly accepted the two-point gift even though they didn’t need it.

The La Grange Lady Leps Softball Team competed in the 2018 Round Rock Invitational which was held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on January 6-7. The team consisted of returning players from the 2017- 18 high school team and they were coached by Lindsey Vasek, Madison Becka and Sue Smith.

The new year didn’t start out so well for the La Grange boys basketball team.
Lacking the offensive punch the Leps had in their final several games of 2017, La Grange really struggled to score points in their first game of 2018, falling to Bellville 50-35 Friday at home.
