Lee Taylor of La Grange was fishing at his favorite fishing hole on April 25 for crappie, but caught a four foot long 40 lb. humpback blue cat on white mister twister crappie jig, with 10 lb. test Stren line on a Zebco spin cast reel with a 6 1/2 foot medium action Eagle Claw rod.

What a weekend it was for Fayette County athletes on the track.
At regional meets stretching from Huntsville to Kingsville, local athletes punched their tickets to the state track meet by finishing among the top two in their events.

The Fayetteville boys golf team of Damon Gerik, Kade Braden, Payton Hemmitt, Braden Rohde, Matthew Green and Coach Blake Krebs qualified for the state tournament after finishing third at the Region IV-1A tournament this week at Blackhawk Golf Club in Pflugerville.

The La Grange softball team begins the 4A playoffs this week versus Taylor as the Lady Leps try to start a new win streak.
The Lady Leps had their 14- game win streak snapped Monday in a home playoff warm-up game against Class 5A No. 25-ranked College Station.

Flatonia star pitcher Kaddin Mikulik pitched his second perfect game of the season, hurling five no-hit innings in Friday’s 11-0 Bulldog victory over Moulton. Mikulik (who will pitch in college for San Jacinto) struck out nine.

A month ago the La Grange softball ream rallied from two runs downs in their final at-bat to beat Giddings and former Lady Leps coach Art Behrend.

For the second time this season, DePaul University softball’s Missy Zoch (a former La Grange softball player) was named BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league officials on Monday.
