John Frank Svec

John Frank Svec, 65, of La Grange, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at Care Inn in La Grange. John was born in La Grange on  Dec. 10, 1947, the son of Ivan J. and Johana (Lidiak) Svec. He was a retired truck driver with Thomas Petroleum. He  enjoyed attending local church picnics, collecting hats, and reading all area newspapers to keep up with any football or  baseball games. John spent over 30 years working at the Fayette County Fair and enjoyed greeting the guests. He is  survived by two daughters, Kristi Svec Simmons and husband, Cole, of Austin, Kimberly Pietsch and husband, Shane,  of La Grange; son, Rodney Svec and wife, Kristy, of Yoakum; three brothers, Henry Svec, Theo Svec and wife, Gladys, of  La Grange, Tom Svec and wife, Marilyn of Houston; mother-in-law, Olga Buchhorn of La Grange; sister-in-law, Sandra  Haley of Whitesboro; four grandchildren, Taylor Simmons, Beckham Simmons, Macy Svec, and Madison Svec, other  relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan J. and Johanna (Lidiak) Svec; wife, Shirley Svec;  two brothers, Ivan Svec and Bill Svec; father-in-law, Carl Buchhorn; three sisters-inlaw, Janice Kansteiner, Gracie Svec,  and Marie Svec. Memorial Services will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral, located at 208 W. Pearl St. in La Grange,  at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Calvary Men’s Club,  800 N. Franklin, La Grange, Texas or Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, La Grange, Texas.
