The sound of clippers buzzing through hair once again spilled out of the doorway at 237 W. Travis Street last Friday, the site of Ken’s Barber Shop on the La Grange Courthouse Square. Inside, barbers Ken Jurecka and Floyd Weishuhn worked on a pair of customers who’ve waited nearly two months for a trim. Another customer waited outside the door.

Five more people tested positive for coronavirus in Fayette County. Fayette County Office of Emergency Management reported two new cases on Tuesday, May 5, and the three others the following day, May 6. All patients live in Pct. 3, the Flatonia area.
Hair, nail and tanning salons along with barbershops in Texas may reopen on Friday, and gyms will be allowed to open May 18, according to orders from Governor Greg Abbott Tuesday.

Starting this Friday, retail stores, restaurants and museums as stated by Governor Abbott will be allowed to operate at a 25% capacity. This is permission to reopen, but not a requirement and some local retail stores, restaurants and museums are unsure on what to do.
