Fayetteville Bond Fails; Locals Differ From State Voters on Amendments

People seemed to care a lot more about the one local issue on Tuesday’s Election Day ballot, than the nine statewide issues. Only 1,881 (12.1 percent) of Fayette County’s 15,645 registered voters turned out to vote for or against nine constitutional amendments on the ballot. Statewide, they all passed, but locally three of the nine – propositions 3, 5 and 6 – failed in close votes. Prop 6 was for $2 Billion in water development loan money from the state’s Rainy Day Fund. It failed locally by a mere seven votes – 920 for; 927 against.
