Drought’s Over!? We’re Now Just ‘Abnormally Dry’

Article Image Alt Text
Hallelujah – Fayette County is only “abnormally dry,” according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor. (that is the only  category which doesn’t use the dreaded “D-word.”) It reflects the fact that for first time since December, 2010 Fayette County is no longer in a moderate, severe or exceptional drought. The change is a result of welcome greater-than-average rainfall in September and October. Travis County is also out of the drought category due to record-setting rains in October.
