Ann (Decker) Reistle

Ann (Decker) Reistle, 75, of La Grange, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. 
Ann was a native Texan and Houstonian born on Aug. 11, 1938 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her parents were Paul M. Decker and Alice Katherine Decker. She attended Catholic schools in Houston and was a proud gradu- Obituaries
ate of St. Agnes’ Academy and maintained close relationships with many of her fellow “56’r” classmates. She attended Texas Women’s University and went to work for Tennessee Natural Gas. She married Carl E. Reistle, III on June 4, 1960, at St. Vincent De Paul Church and after a honeymoon in Acapulco, the couple moved to Kingsville where Carl worked for Humble Oil (now ExxonMobil). Ann was past president of the Kingsville Women’s Club, head of the March of Dimes for a couple of years, and served on the Zoning Board. The young couple was involved with the Republican Party and Ann was a Precinct Chairman. The couple were members of the Kingsville Country Club, active members of two dance clubs and enjoyed friendships with the King Ranch and Armstrong families. In fact, she shot her first buck while riding in Tobin Armstrong’s hunting car. They were transferred many times over 40 years with ExxonMobil from Kingsville to Oklahoma City, Los Angeles, Houston, Midland, Baytown, and finally back to Houston. The couple was members of
the Kingsville Country Club, Ranchland Hills Country Club in Midland and Goose Creek Country Club in Baytown. She
worked for many years at a ladies boutique in Houston, was active in the Westchester High School Wranglerette Drill Team booster club, and served as Christmas card chairperson and later as President when their daughter, Amy, was a senior. Ann was an excellent cook and had a library  of about 100 cookbooks. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos every evening. The couple moved to La Grange in 1999 after Carl’s retirement. She was a member of the Holy Rosary
Catholic Church at Hostyn and Frisch Auf! Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Carl, of 53 years; son,
Chris Reistle; of La Grange; daughter, Amy Sidaras and husband, Stephen, of Austin; sisterin- law, Betty Reistle Pierce,  of Houston; cousin, Sandra Decker Frost, of McAllen; three grandsons: Cooper, Slater and Decker; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Michael F. Decker. The family would like to express appreciation to caregivers, Lisa Chavez, Kirby Stolorski, Felisha Hutchison, Ashley Schubert, and the nurses and aids at Hospice and Home Health Care for all of the loving and professional care. A special thanks also goes out to Rosi Guytan and Tina Bretting for coming to  the house and doing her hair and nails on a routine basis. She really loved all of these ladies. Visitation was held on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 from 12 to 7:30 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013. Burial followed at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A reception was held at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club after burial. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Medical
