Frank J. Gerik, 76, of Fayetteville died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013. Frank was born May 27, 1937 in Fayetteville to Frank
and Rosie (Marek) Gerik. He attended St. John Catholic School and married Clara (Janish) Gerik on Oct. 10, 1956 at
St. John Catholic Church in Fayetteville. A lifelong resident of the area, Frank was a hardworking dedicated family man.
His career was working in the gravel industry and he retired from Thorsenberg Materials. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and ranching. He passed on his passion for horses and trail riding to his children and grandchildren. Frank enjoyed endless fishing trips to the Colorado and Brazos Rivers with his friends and family. He lived  for hunting season and baking barbecue for special occasions. Frank was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the KJT Society, Catholic Life, Woodmen of the World, and a Christian example and inspiration to all. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had an  interesting story to share. He is survived by his wife of 57 years of Fayetteville; one daughter, Joan Gerik of Alvin;
five sons, Thomas Gerik and wife, Shannan, of Columbus, Richard Gerik of Fayetteville, Gilbert Gerik and wife, Julie,
of Ellinger, Jerome Gerik and wife, Susan, of Santa Fe, and Mark Gerik and wife, Lisa, of Fayetteville; twelve  randchildren, Jaime, Jenna, Tyler, Joseph and wife Kristi, Katie, Dylan, Haley, Damon, Kody, Kyle, Landon, and Lindsey; three great grandchildren, Jason, Weston, and Colton; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosie Gerik; father-in-law and mother- in law, Joseph and Mary Janish; infant son, Frank Jr.; oldest son Michael; brothers, Daniel, Clarence, and Jimmie Gerik; sister and brother-in-law, Georgie and Arthur Untermeyer; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Minar Janish, and Angeline Janish. Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel in Fayetteville. Family  received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John Catholic
Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. Burial followed at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers or customary remembrances, the family requests, with gratitude, that contributions in Frank’s memory be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or Mass of choice.
