Dennis Divin, 90, of Ellinger, formerly of Columbus, died Dec. 18, 2013, in Columbus surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 26, 1923 in Ellinger to Charles and Mary Krenek Divin. On March 14, 1948, he married Annie Mae Minarcik. Dennis was a World War II veteran, who served with the 179th FA Battalion in General Patton’s 3rd Army. Returning from the war, he worked in the gravel industry until retirement. He was an avid farmer and gardener, known for his expertise with peaches and tomatoes. He spent his free time enjoying the outdoors hunting and fishing. Dennis is survived by his sons, Donnie Divin and wife Cherri of Columbus, Ron Divin and wife Kay of Columbus, daughter Diane Cherry and husband Michael of Columbus and daughter-in-law, Patricia Divin of Columbus. Grandchildren who survived  him are Cheryl Koenig, Chuck Divin, Kristen Hall, Danny Divin, Andrea Cherry, Megan Thomas, Andy Divin, and Zach Divin. He is also survived by a brother Odis Divin, of Highlands, sister-inlaw, Agnes Divin of La Grange, and eight great-grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, son Tom Divin, and brother, Charlie Divin. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. with Deacon Doug Tromblee officiating and military honors by the U.S. Army. Burial followed at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. The rosary was recited Friday night at 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Pallbearers were Zach Divin, Megan Thomas and husband Lange, Andrea Cherry, Chuck Divin, Danny Divin, Andy Divin, Cheryl Koenig and husband Sean.
