Carol Frances (Wendler) Skelton

Carol Frances (Wendler) Skelton, 59, of La Grange died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013. She was born in Brenham on Aug. 31, 1954, the daughter of Carl Louis Wendler and Frances Elizabeth (Brossmann) Wendler. She married Jackie Skelton

March 17, 1984 in Hallettsville. She was a special education teacher for 35 years. She worked for St. Paul Catholic  Schools in Shiner and Devereux School in Victoria. She retired from the school district in Hallettsville after 30 years. Carol was a graduate of Texas A&M and University of Houston and held two masters degrees in special Education and Counseling. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, La Grange Citizens Police Academy and Citizens on Patrol and American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary. Skelton was very involved at her church serving in Stephen Ministry and the Parish Aide Committee, as well as in other organizations. She was an avid volunteer for Second Chance and AMEN.

She is survived by her husband Jackie, of 29 years; father, Carl Wendler of Schulenburg; daughter, Jessica Skelton of Bellingham, Wash.; son, Jarrett Skelton of La Grange; and sister, Cheryl Schulman and husband, Craig of College Station. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances (Brossmann) Wendler, Dec. 17, 2008; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland

Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013. Graveside services followed in the La Grange
