Eva Marie (Melcher) Roitsch

Eva Marie (Melcher) Roitsch, 95, of La Grange, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at St. Mark’s Medical Center. Eva was born in La Grange on Oct. 27, 1918, the daughter of William Edison Melcher and Mary Eva (Heller) Melcher. Eva graduated from La Grange High School and was named the valedictorian of her high school class. She married Edgar A. Roitsch on April 20, 1938 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in La Grange. Eva was a “stay at home” Mom, but she also worked at a dental office and received her Real Estate license. Eva was a member of the Ladies Circle at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, The La Grange Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary and was an avid volunteer  at Second Chance Emporium. Her many interests included her love of playing bridge, her flowers, watching your children, grandchildren and great-grand children grow up and she never missed a baseball and football game on television  including her favorite team-the Houston Astros. She is survived by daughter, Donna Krauss and husband, Doyle, of  Roanoke; Connie  Krause and husband, Ben, of Stokesdale, N.C.; son, Roger Roitsch and wife, Landa, of Houston; daughter, Janis Stancik and husband, David, of La Grange; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar,of 61 years; and granddaughter, Sheryl Lynn Krauss. Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.
