Bette Mae Zies

Bette Mae Zies, 88, of Carmine, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. Bette was born on Jan. 3, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to Mathew and Mary (Frain) Boynton. She met the love of her life, Eugene M. Zies in Fort Wayne, Ind. and they were married Aug. 21, 1948. They moved to Texas in 1968 where Eugene was transferred for work. Bette was a homemaker and enjoyed  working around the home and farm. The main love of Bette’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Johnson and husband, James; son, Harry Zies and wife, Patricia; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bette is preceded in death by her husband Eugene; son, Raymond; parents and brother, Duane Pierce.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, located at 211 Luther Lane in Carmine, with Pastor David Tinker officiating.
