Carl Glyn Mathews

Carl Glyn Mathews, 77, of La Grange died Dec. 31, 2013. Carl was born in Fayetteville on Sept. 10, 1936, to Vernon and Mae Dell (Vetter) Struve. Mae Dell then married Henry Mathews. Carl married Doris Killingsworth on Feb. 28, 1959 in

Longview. He worked as an Engineer for Kaiser Aluminum and Southwest Pipe of Houston and retired in 1991. Carl and Doris are owners of Riverside Shopping Center in La Grange. Carl was an avid bass fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Doris, of 54 years; two sons, Glyn Mathews and wife, Donna, of Richmond; Michael Mathews and wife, Carmel, of La Grange; brother, Guy Mathews and wife, Barbara, of Pflugerville; granddaughter, Lyndsay Mathews and Jeff Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church, located at 1215 N.Von Minden in La Grange, at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.
