Carrie (Orsak) Hrachovy

Carrie (Orsak) Hrachovy, 96, of La Grange died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Monument Hill Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Carrie was born in Breslau on Jan. 8, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Novak) Orsak. She graduated from Breslau High School in May, 1934. Carrie married her first husband, Alfons Kresta on April 27, 1937 at Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville. She married Jerome J. Hrachovy on Oct. 18, 1977 at Ascencion Catholic Church in Moravia. Carrie worked as a cook at Oakridge Smokehouse Restaurant for eight years. She was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Moravia SPJST Lodge, Hostyn KJZT #23, Catholic Daughters of the Americas #2282, Christian Mothers & Living Rosary. Carrie was very devoted to her catholic faith. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening

and canning. She is survived by daughter, Martha House of Hallettsville; three sons, Marvin Kresta and wife, Pat, of Victoria; Alfons Kresta and wife, Elaine, of Rosenburg; Harvey Kresta and wife, Linda, of Hallettsville; two step daughters, Verlene Kuntschik of La Grange and Marian Chamrad and husband, Charles, of La Grange; step son, David Hrachovy and wife, Lucy, of Houston; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Alfons Kresta; second husband, Jerome J. Hrachovy; sonin- law, Mike House; step sonin-law, Henry J. Kuntschik; 4 brothers and 4 sisters and 2 grandchildren. Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic  Church in Hostyn at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. at Moravia Ascension

Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith House, Gary Orsak, Bradley Kresta, Stanley Orsak, Aaron Kuntschik and Alan  Kuntschik. Memorial contributions may be made to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, La Grange, Texas 78945 or a charity of one’schoice.
