Darryl B. Johnson
Darryl B. Johnson, 80, died Jan. 28, 2014 in Houston. Darryl was born on Aug. 26, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minn. He spent much of his childhood and young adult years on the 5L Ranch in North Zulch which was owned by his aunt and uncle.
Through the years, Darryl was active in Luther League, choir and financial teams at church. He attended Reagan High School and graduated from the University of Houston with a B.A. in accounting in 1955. Darryl was in ROTC at Reagan and UH, and achieved the rank of Cadet Sergeant. He served a short time in the U.S. Army before receiving an honorable discharge for medical reasons. He was an accountant by profession and a member of Faith Lutheran church in Bellaire. Darryl volunteered for Sharpstown Little League and Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed gardening. Darryl loved his grandchildren, his clients (who were like a second family), and his dog, Hunter. He is survived by his wife of
50 years, Frances Johnson; sons Allen Johnson and wife Kristin of The Woodlands, Karl Johnson of La Grange; grandchildren Lauren, Kristi, Erica, and Jacob Johnson; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents. Donations in Darryl’s name may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire; Montgomery County Animal Society, 8535 Texas 242, Conroe Texas 77385; or the Backyard Bull Bash benefitting the Ronald McDonald House, 1212 Barron Road, La Grange, Texas 78945. A celebration of life was
held at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire with the Rev. Kerry Nelson presiding on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at 12 p.m.
