Cattle Numbers At Lowest Level Since 1950s, Prices Way Up

“Where’s the beef?’ That’s the question the angry little old lady used to shout in the Wendy’s commercials of a few years ago, but it might also apply to the current beef cattle market, according to Flatonia Livestock Co. owner Ronnie Beck.

Although generally optimistic about the livestock business over the long term, Beck acknowledges that dwindling herds of beef cattle due to the drought are resulting in higher prices across the board
