Elmer Leroy Zoch

Elmer Leroy Zoch, 82, died Feb. 2, 2014. He was born on Feb. 17, 1932 in Warda to Alvin T. Zoch and Ernestine Mertinek  Zoch. He was one of nine children, and grew up working on the family’s farm. He grew up attending Holy Cross  Lutheran Church in Warda where he was baptized and confirmed. He was drafted in the US Army and served in the Korean War. He married Eva Schmidt in 1978 and had one daughter. He will be remembered for various interests,  including his church, video taping, politics, farming/agriculture and carpentry. He also enjoyed writing articles for the Giddings Times and News and The Fayette County Record. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Zoch;
and sister, Evelyn Lehmann. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Eva; daughter, Jennifer and her husband Ronald Hartmann, Jr.; grandson, Knox; brothers and sisters, Hattie Lovaasen, Irene Weaver, Raymond Zoch, Rudy Zoch, Freddie
Zoch, and Eugene Zoch; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston. In Elmer’s remembrance, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church’s HUG 2 Campaign or the Texas Wendish Heritage Society. Burial with full military honors was in Memorial Oaks Cemetery in
Houston.
