Rebekah Diann (Eilers) Heideman

Rebekah Diann (Eilers) Heideman, 70, of Dallas, formerly of La Grange, died in the early morning hours on Feb. 25,  2014. She was born on Nov. 9, 1943 to Pastor F. E. and Erna (Roitsch) Eilers in La Grange. Her father baptized and confirmed her at Philadelphia Lutheran Church (now United Evangelical Lutheran Church) in Swiss Alp. On Sept. 3, 1966 Becky married Kenneth Heideman at United Dr. Martin Lutheran Church in Shiner with her father officiating, assisted by Kenneth’s grandfather, Pastor Paul Gogolin. Becky graduated from La Grange High School in 1962 and from Texas Lutheran College in 1966. During her high school and college years, she was a camper and counselor at Lutherhill, a camp that her father founded in 1954. After finishing college, Becky began her working career. Her first full-time job was in the Student Financial Aid Office at Texas A&M University. This was followed by working as a research assistant in the Sociology Department at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. When the couple moved back to College Station, Becky joined 1st Bank & Trust in Bryan, where she became an Assistant Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Directors. After a move to Dallas, Becky worked part-time with an event planner. This was followed by a full-time position as office administrator at King of Glory Lutheran Church. She served in this capacity from Jan. 8, 1990 to April 30, 2011, when

she retired. In addition to her working career, Becky was actively involved in the churches wherever she lived. She was a member of the Women of the Church, served on various committees and served on the Congregation Council at King of Glory Lutheran Church. Becky was a devout Christian, loved her family, was a friend to almost everyone and always ready to assist anyone in need. Her favorite non-working activity was to carefully select and send greeting cards to family and friends on any special occasion. Becky is survived by her husband, Kenneth; sister, Carol Thompson and husband, Don,

of Chandler, Arizona; nieces, Heather Heidemann of Tampa, Fla., Dawn Heidemann of New York City and Alyssa Heidemann of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Ben and Margaret Heideman; brother-in-law, Paul Heidemann; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of Becky’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6411 LBJ Freeway in Dallas. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Koenig- Strickland Funeral Home, 208 W. Pearl Street in La Grange. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Friday, March 7, 2014 at United Evangelical Lutheran
