Elgin Leonard Kasper, 90, of Winchester died Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. Elgin was born in Winchester on April 22, 1923, the son of August and Hulda (Schulz) Kasper. He married Mildred Koenning on June 24, 1951 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. Elgin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946. He was employed as an Operations Supervisor for Austin Energy for twenty-three years. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mildred; son, Daniel Kasper and wife, Tammy, of Serbin; two sisters: Mirien Senter and husband, Al, of Dallas; Elfredia Cruse of Pflugerville; brother-in-law, Clint Bushacker of Winchester; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Milton and Audrey Koenning of Winchester; Delton and Elma Koenning of Winchester; and Gladys Teinert of La Grange; four grandchildren: Matthew, Shannon and Jason Kasper and Tiffany McMillan; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Kasper; and sister, Gladys Bushacker. Visitation was held on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 700 Frio St. in Winchester at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery.
