John Perkins

John Perkins, 84, of Springtown, died March 9, 2014. He was born Feb. 22, 1933 in Port Arthur the son of Henry Irby and Edna Melder Irby. He was adopted into the Perkins family in 1951. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Betty Joyce Perkins, and his father and mother.

A memorial service was held Friday, March 14, 1 p.m. at Koenig and Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Remains were interred in Prairie Lea Cemetery, Brenham.

He is survived by his wife, Danielle Harrison Perkins, of Springtown; his daughter, Kimberly Perkins Maldonado of Springtown; two sons, Orville Perkins and Richard Perkins, of Arlington; two foster sons, Charles Sigbornson and Carl Forrest of Arlington; four grandchildren: Josh E. Gates (Brenda) of Baytown, Briana, Alana and Trey Maldonado of Springtown; and one great-granddaughter, Paige Elizabeth Gates, of Baytown.

Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home of La Grange was in charge of arrangements.
