Leander Milton Minar

Leander Milton Minar, 78, died Monday March 24, 2014 in Columbus. Leander was born on Oct. 22, 1935 in Fayetteville, to Arnold Minar and Anita Blinka Minar. He married Ann Supak on Oct. 29, 1966 in Plum. He was a retired carpenter who

loved gardening and mowed lawns in Ellinger after retirement. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger and SPJST. He is survived by his wife, Ann Minar; daughter, Carol Ann Hopkins and husband Michael of Ellinger; one sister, Charlyn Krause and husband Melvin of Brenham; one brother, Raymond Minar of Ellinger; two grandchildren, Steven Schmidt, Jr. of Willow Springs and Emily Ann Schmidt of Brenham; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Christopher Schmidt. Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Ellinger. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church near Ellinger. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department , Standards Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
