Lottie (Laufer) Young

Lottie (Laufer) Young, 94, of West Point, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Seton Medical Center in Austin. Lottie was born in Fayette County on March 21, 1920, the daughter of Richard R. Laufer and Ola (Hatch) Laufer. She married Frank Clyde Young on Aug. 27, 1941 at the First Baptist Church in La Grange. Lottie was baptized at Rocky Crossing in Buckners Creek as a child. She was a member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Smithville. She attended grade school at Rock Ridge and graduated from Flatonia High School in 1938. Lottie being a natural athlete enjoyed playing volleyball and softball. She was most definitely a people person. She fully enjoyed her role as a rancher’s wife never hesitating to confront a challenge in country life. As a mother, one could not have asked for a better example. She is survived by daughter, Melba Fay Young of West Point; sister-in-law, Sue Robbins; two nieces: Glenda Mach and husband, Doug; and Bobbie Stevens; two great nephews: Richard Mach and family and Chris Mach; extended family:
Quirino, Lulu, Bryan, Dalia and Justin Moreno and a host of other friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Young who died Nov. 22, 2001; infant daughter, Lottie Clyde; sister, Amanda Michal and husband, Jerry; and two brothers-in-law: Alfred Young and Bob Robbins. Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 12 to 8 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Pastor Michael Murphy officiated. Burial followed at Woods Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 Hudgins St., Smithville, Texas 78957, Woods Prairie Cemetery, 2726 W.
