Helen Elizabeth Hausler Melcher
Jesus wrapped his loving arms around our Beloved Mother, Helen Elizabeth Hausler Melcher, on April 9, 2014 and
lifted her from our magnificent planet Earth to take her to her new Heavenly home which he had prepared especially for her. Helen was born in La Grange on March 3, 1921 to her adoring parents, Lee Alfred and Elizabeth Pastusek Hausler. We take comfort in believing that Mom is now and forever lovingly reunited in Heaven with her parents, and her Dear sister Ruth Hausler Manuel, and all her other beloved LaGrange relatives who have preceded her. And we are certain that she is joyfully surrounded with her precious little Poodles, Fifi Larue and Tiny Bubbles. Mom had a good life growing
up in beautiful, peaceful La- Grange; attending college; marrying our Dad Max A. Melcher - her high school sweetheart;
having us two kids; living in Houston’s Spring Branch community; and eventually moving to Lago Vista on Lake Travis
where she took pleasure in rescuing starving and mistreated horses, and in volunteering with her church. Our Mom showed amazing strength of character dealing with some of life’s hard blows. In recent years, she mustered incredible courage to battle and survive facial cancer, and remarkable bravery to then stand up and go forth with its resulting disfigurement. In her last years, Mom was blessed to have so many wonderful community friends, including those from her Catholic church, St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake, who meant so much to her life. Mom’s remaining family members include her devoted little sister Elizabeth Hausler Higgins of Baytown, who constantly supported and comforted
her. Also, loving attentive nieces Elaine McCain of Houston; Kathy Littlefield of Baytown; Linda Giese Oltmann of LaGrange, and nephew Clifford Giese of La Grange. And Mom’s precious Granddaughter Mariah Melcher Bollhardt and
new Great Granddaughter Ella Mae Bollhardt of Germany, and treasured Grandson Travis Melcher of Houston.
And we, Mom’s two kids, Betty Anne Melcher of Lago Vista and Max David Melcher, and wife Maribeth, of Sunrise
Beach, thank our beautiful Mom for our lives and our family. We will forever miss and love her.
