Edith Walther Zoch

Edith Walther Zoch, loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and sister, died in her sleep April 29 in Cypress. Edith was the first of eight children born to Albert Walther and Alma Zoch Walther on a farm outside of Warda. She
married Fred Zoch of Winchester in 1943; he preceded her in death in 1980 while living in Gonzales. Due to her struggle
with health issues, she moved to an assisted living home in the Houston area to be close to her children in 2009. 
Edith was healthy in mind but knew it was time. Church and family were a very important part of her life. She loved
fishing and gardening, and was a great seamstress. She retired from Gonzales Bank in 1992 where she worked in the records department. She lived in Warda, Houston and Gonzales and was a lifelong faithful member of the Lutheran church. She is survived by her children: Don Zoch and wife Judy of Jersey Village, Delphine Michna and husband Paul of
Magnolia, David Zoch and wife Danièle of Houston, Debra Poskey and husband Ted of Yoakum; six grandchildren: Kim Ezernack, Christine Galloway, Shelley Michna, Michael Michna,Tray Poskey and Kelsey Poskey; three great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Franklin Walther of Warda, Vestine Walther and wife Gloria of Houston, Ruth Walther of Missouri City, Mary Walther of Houston, Helga Walther of Houston; and brother-in-law: Herbert and wife Lorine Zoch of Houston; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Houston at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Texas Wendish Heritage Society, Giddings or a charity of your choice.
