Vernell Lois Fuchs

Vernell Lois Fuchs of Brenham, 77, died May 3, 2014 in La Grange. Vernell Fuchs was born June 24, 1936 in Nechanitz to Henry and Martha Gau Fuchs. She moved to Austin in 1948, and graduated from A. N. McCallum High School in 1954. Vernell was employed by Scarbrough’s Department Store and Seton Hospital in Austin. In 1968, she moved to Brenham, and worked for Schleider’s Furniture Store for 27 years, and was then employed by Brenham Office Supply for four years before retiring. A member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, Vernell served as treasurer of the Brenham Downtown Association from 1995 until 1997, serving on the board of directors of that organization for three years. Survivors include her sister, Doris Heinecke and nephew Glenn Heinecke, both of La Grange; nephew, Allen Heinecke and wife Kay of Ft. Worth; niece, Karen Greer and husband Ted of  Clearwater, Fla.; as well as four grand nephews, one great-grand nephew, and four great-grand nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and  Martha Fuchs; brother and sister-in-law, Elvis and Elbertha Fuchs, and a brother-in-law, Marvin Heinecke. A memorial service for Ms. Fuchs will be held at a later date. In lieu of regular remembrances, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
