Local Officers Honored For Their Heroism

Five Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies and one local DPS Trooper were honored Wednesday as Officers of the Year at the Houston 100 Club’s 60th Annual Heroes Awards banquet. The officers were nominated by Sheriff Keith Korenek and Chief Deputy Randy Noviskie. Honored for heroism during an incident involving a potential suicide attempt in April were Sgt. Ron Naumann, Dep. David Michael Smith, Dep. Marc Bennett, Dep. Richard E. Bohlmann, Dep. Dusty Bernshausen and DPS Trooper John Mieth, Jr. All recipients received a 40 caliber Sig Sauer handgun.
