Fire Fighters Stay Busy Putting out Burning Hay Bales, Car

La Grange and Fayetteville volunteer fire departments were busy Monday afternoon and evening doing what they do – putting out fires. La Grange firefighters responded to a hay bale fire on Zimmerman Lane near FM 609 at 5:49 p.m. Upon arrival they discovered 19 round bales of hay on fire. La Grange VFD chief Frank Menefee said the fire was started by an electric fence which caught the grass on fire and then burned back to the bales.
