Memories of a Great Man

Monsignor Harry Mazurkiewicz (better known as Father Harry to most of us) died on Saturday, July 5. He was a great man who had an impact on many lives – mine being one of them. My first encounter with Father Harry was in the mid-1970s. I had just moved to La Grange, I was in junior high and some of my first (and closest) friends attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. I went to their school functions and attended their confirmation service. I heard them speak of what a great priest/man he was and that’s saying a lot – junior high kids usually don’t like any adults.
