Elwood Moerbe
Elwood Moerbe, 81, of Blytheville, Ark., died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. He was born in Warda on March 3, 1933 the son of Walter and Esther Schneider Moerbe. He was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church. He served in the Air Force for 13 years. He worked at the Post Office in Blytheville for 23
years. He worked full time at Safeway for 13 years while also working full time at the Post Office. He later worked for four
and a half years at Kroger. He had also worked at Borg Warner. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and just being outdoors.
He thrived on watching the St. Louis Cardinals play. He loved to cook, and he had a great sense of humor. He was a very
independent person. Everyone that met him knew that he was a great person. He really enjoyed his visits from granddaughter, Sophie. He loved line dancing and knew every step to every dance. He loved music and he enjoyed playing the guitar, the organ, and the harmonica. It was a special time for him every day when he spoke with his brothers
and his sister in Texas. He was a family man. His daughter, Donnie, said “He was not only my Dad, he was my best friend.” He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Tim Moerbe, of Blythville, Ark.; his daughters: Kimberly Wray, and Donnie Moerbe Wages, of Jonesboro, Ark.; his grandchildren: Joshua Moerbe, Meagan Moerbe, Sophie Moerbe, and Casey Wray; six great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harvey (Janet) Moerbe and Walter (Elaine) Moerbe, all of Austin; one sister; Laverne Rainosek of Austin; and his best friend, Bobby Morris; and a host of otherrelatives and friends.
