Andrea Bargas, 81, of Holman, went home to be with our Lord Monday, Aug. 11, 2014 at St. Mark’s Medical Center, La Grange. Andrea, born Dec. 11, 1932 in Cistern, was the first of six children born to George and Vicenta (Segura) Delgado. She married Joe Bargas in Ammansville on Aug. 26, 1950 and together they  built a home in Holman where she raised eight children whom she adored and devoted her life to. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by countless individuals. Andrea, also known as “Mom, “Granny”, Granny Granny” and “Shorty”, enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She took pride in preparing delicious home cooked meals for anyone who walked through her door and she made everyone feel welcome at her home. Much of the food that she prepared came from her bountiful garden. Being a resourceful homemaker, she canned a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Over the years, she was awarded various prizes for her entries in the floral and canning exhibits at the County Fair. She spent many hours sewing, knitting and cross-stitching decorative linens that she would give as gifts to all the girls in her family as well as to dear friends. She was very caring, forgiving and soft-hearted and was always willing and ready to help anyone in need. Anyone that knew her was blessed to have had her in their lives. She was a past member of the La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club, The Weimar Garden Club, Swiss Alp Dance Club, Charter Member of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse, Fayette County Independent Cattlemen’s Association, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, St. Michael’s Catholic Church and various charities and other organizations. We who are the beneficiaries of her numerous gifts and generous spirit, will remember with deep gratitude, Andrea’s countless contributions to our lives. We thank God for her.
