Wanda Eleonora Mitschke, 100, of Winchester died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 in Giddings. Funeral services were held
at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. Burial followed in St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery. Wanda Eleonora Schulz Mitschke was born on Nov. 2, 1913 in Winchester to Gottlieb Schulz and Marie (Zoch) Schulz, one of their eight children. She was baptized on Nov. 9, 1913 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Winchester by Pastor F.W. Siebelitz. Wanda was confirmed, also at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, on May 27, 1928 by Pastor Erich J. Moebus. Her confirmation verse was Romans 8:17. She and Rudie Arnold Mitschke became husband and wife on Sept. 10, 1939 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church and they later became proud parents of a son and a daughter. Wanda is survived by her son, Rudie Lee Mitschke and wife, Jeanette of Houston; her daughter, Laverne Weiser of Giddings; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three  great-great-grandchildren, and numerous other extended family. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Michael’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to a charity of ones choice. Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
