Vernell Marie (Hollas) Machacek

Vernell Marie (Hollas) Machacek, 79, of La Grange, formerly of Shiner, died Aug. 31, 2014 at Care Inn of La- Grange in La Grange. Vernell was born on Aug. 9, 1935 in Schulenburg. She was the daughter of Oscar and Hilda (Sokal) Hollas. She married Julius Machacek on April 2, 1956 in Shiner. Vernell was a seamstress, having sewn many wedding dresses, and a housewife. She loved playing dominoes and bingo. Funeral Mass was under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner and was held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. Deacon Joe Machacek and Father Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Interment folowed at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner.
