Arnold Peters, Sr., 95, formerly of Carmine, died Sept. 14, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton. Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiated. Burial followed in La Bahia Cemetery, near Burton. Visitation with the family was from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Arnold was born Dec. 22, 1918, in the Kuykendall community, near Brenham, to Herman and Ida (Dreyer) Peters. On March 9, 1919, he was baptized at Wiedeville. On April 9, 1933,
he was confirmed at Wiedeville. He was educated at Kuykendall and Browns Prairie schools. On Jan. 1, 1939, he was married to Lydia Graeber at Friedens Evangelical Church at Washington. During World War II, Mr. Peters served in the Navy from 1944-1946. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton. He was also a member of the Carmine Fire  Department, Chamber of Commerce, Carmine Hall, Sons of Hermann Lodge #151, SPJST Lodge #179, and the Burton American Legion Post #242. For 35 years he was the owner of Peters Feed Store in Carmine. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Dennis Allen of Kossee; daughter- in-law, Janette Peters of Brenham; grandchildren, Kevin Peters, Kimberly and Jeff Shows, Kayla and Jason Romine, Jason and Carrie Roemer and Joel and
Stefanie Roemer; great-grandchildren, Cameron Peters and Carly Shed, Caleb Peters, Kacey and Derrick Smith, Kelly Shows, Ashleigh Romine, Amanda Romine, Kate Roemer and Logan Roemer; great-great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Peters and Jaxson Smith; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Menetta Wied and Mary Ann Bathe; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arnold was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Peters; parents; son, Arnold Peters, Jr.;
son-in-law, Ronnie Roemer; brother; sister; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Robert Nobles, Larry Randall, Mark Bathe, Kevin Peters, Jason Roemer, Joel Roemer, Jeff Shows and Jason Romine.
