Georgie Canik Reising

Georgie Canik Reising, 81, of Columbus died Sept. 21, 2014 in Columbus. She was born on Jan. 25, 1933 to Joseph M. and Mary A. (Pavlicek) Canik in the Hostyn Community near Ellinger. On April 14, 1953 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg, she married Charles Emil Reising. Georgie was an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, and also a member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mary Queen of the Snows #1588. She enjoyed sewing, gardening vegetables and flowers, canning, quilting, fishing and playing games with her grandchildren, especially dominoes and cards. Georgie is survived by her husband, Charles E. Reising of Columbus; daughters, Sandra Ainsworth and husband John of College Station, Cynthia Holmes and husband Clent of Houston, Shirley Antosh and husband Gary of La Grange; son, Gregory Reising and wife Mary of Columbus; six grandchildren, Cody Ainsworth and wife Mandi, Joseph Ainsworth, Adam Antosh and wife Erin, Stephanie Antosh, Macaela Reising, and Gregory Reising Jr.; brothers, Jerome Canik and wife Josephine of Houston, and Leebert Canik of Frelsburg; sister, Evelyn Korenek of Nada, and brother-in-law, Louis F. Eilers of Conroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. and Mary A. (Pavlicek) Canik, sisters- in-law, Jeanette Canik, and Dorothy Eilers, and brother-inlaw, Leonard Korenek. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Fr. Dan Kahlich and Fr. Augustine N. Asante officiated. Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Adam Antosh, Gregory Reising, Jr., C. Cody Ainsworth, Joseph C. Ainsworth, Stephen Korenek and Larry Canik. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Anthony Catholic School, 635 Bonham St., Columbus, Texas 78934; or American Cancer Society - Colorado County Unit, 4401 Lilac St., Victoria, Texas 77901.
