Emil John Veselka

Emil John Veselka, 99, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at his home in St. Marys, Kan.

Emil was born April 16, 1915 in Fayetteville, the son of Joseph and Mary Gajda Veselka.  He worked as a diesel mechanic for the city of Houston for many years from which he retired.

Among his survivors are his daughters, Mary Ann Bunel and husband Andrew of St. Marys, Kan., Joyce and the late Leroy Rybak of Hallettsville; son, Victor and wife Nancy Veselka of Winter Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Andrew Bunel, III of Nashville, Tenn., Pamela and husband Kenneth Brown, Brian and wife Jennifer Bunel, Jason and wife Shanna Bunel, and Danielle Bunel, all of St. Marys, Kan. and Chris and wife Edita Rybak of Hallettsville; and 20 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother George and wife Sue Veselka of Houston and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Albina.

Services were held Sept. 17 in St. Marys, Kan. and burial was held Sept. 20 in Houston.

Pallbearers at St. Marys, Kan. were Peter Brown, Stephen Bunel, Philip Brown, Kenneth Brown, Matthew Bunel and Gregory Brown.  Pallbearers at Forst Park Westheimer were Brian Bunel, Jason Bunel, Andrew Bunel, Greg Veselka, George Veselka, Jr. and Robert Deem. Honorary pallbearer was Chris Rybak.
