Leebert Joseph Canik

Leebert Joseph Canik, 77, of Frelsburg died Oct. 14, 2014 in Houston. He was born on Aug. 31, 1937 to Joe M. and Mary A. (Pavlicek) Canik in Frelsburg. On Sept. 24, 1983 he married Anna Jeanette Hollon. Leebert graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked at Dow Chemical in Freeport for over 30 years, retiring and moving back to the home farm in Frelsburg where he enjoyed reading, visiting with family and listening to radio talk  shows. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg. Leebert is survived by his brother, Jerome Canik and

wife Josephine of Houston; sister, Evelyn Korenek of Nada; brother-in-law, Charles Reising of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by  his wife, Anna Jeanette Canik, parents, Joe M. and Mary A. (Pavlicek) Canik, sister, Georgie Reising, brother-in-law, Leonard Korenek, and niece, Barbara Korenek. Funeral services were held

on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg with Fr. Wayne Flagg officiating. Burial followed in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg. Pallbearers were Leonard Korenek, Jr., Kenneth Korenek, Dean Canik, Chris Canik,Gregory Reising and John Ainsworth. Memorials are suggested to the Sts.
