Ruth Ann Fritsch Marek

Ruth Ann Fritsch Marek, 77, went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 in San Antonio. She was born April 25, 1937 to Henry and Augusta Hengst Fritsch in Fayetteville. Ruth was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother (Mammy). She enjoyed traveling with her husband and making memories with her family and friends. Ruth made the holidays special for her family and liked preparing the holiday feast. She was a longtime active member of Shepherd King Lutheran Church. Ruth was an avid tennis player, and loved celebrating monthly birthday lunches with her tennis group and friends. Ruth is survived by her husband of 59 years, JD Marek; daughter, Debbie Stracke and husband, Steve; daughter, Laurie Underwood and husband, Grason; grandchildren, Brittany and Nathan Stracke, Aaron and Garrett Underwood; brother, Adrian Fritsch and wife, Virginia; sister, Gaynell Heinsohn and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ralph Fritsch. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Shepherd King Lutheran Church located at 303 Ramsey Rd. in San Antonio. Pastor Kristine Hill will officiate. A reception to celebrate Ruth’s life will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
