Janis Lehmann
Funeral services for Janis Lehmann, 60, of Winchester, were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. Rev. Nate Hill officiated. Burial followed in the Winchester City Cemetery. Janis Lynn (McGee) Lehmann was born on Aug. 5, 1954 in Abilene to Henry and Imajean (Bilberry) McGee. She was baptized on June 1, 1966 and confirmed on Aug. 20, 1972 at Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville. Janis graduated from Smithville High School in 1972. On July 15, 1972, she and Maclyn Lehmann were united in marriage at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester. They were blessed with three children, Joseph, Stacey and Chad. Janis was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Winchester where she also served as the church secretary for 14 years. Most recently, she had been working as a sales clerk. She enjoyed cooking and shopping. She will be remembered for her buttermilk pies and being able to cook or bake anything with very few ingredients. She was also a lover of all
animals and especially enjoyed taking care of her dogs. Janis passed away, while surrounded by her family, the evening of Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at the Seton Medical Center in Austin. She was preceded in death by her mother, ImaJean McGee; her parents-in-law, Walter and Louise Lehmann and her two brothers-in-law, James Franke and Terry Key. Janis is survived by her husband of 42 years, Maclyn Lehmann of Winchester; her three children, Joseph and Roslyn Lehmann of Plum, Stacey Lehmann and Jake Gonzalez of La Grange and Chad and Tish Lehmann of Winchester; her father, Henry McGee of Smithville; her seven grandchildren, Dustin “Dusty” and Adriana Veitch of West Point, Tyler Lehmann of Plum, Kylee Lehmann of Plum, Hailey Gonzalez of La Grange, Harper Spencer of La Grange, Corey Lehmann of Winchester and Jace Lehmann of Winchester; her two great-grandchildren, Bianca and Briella Veitch of West Point; her sister, Iris Franke of Smithville; her brother, Steve and Debbie McGee of Nacogdoches;
her sisters-in-law, Elaine Key of League City and Ruth and Roy Medack of Giddings as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mary Gutierrez, 885 North Chambers, Giddings, Texas 78942, the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 700 Frio Street, Winchester, Texas 78945 or to the charity of one’s choice. Janis wrote the following for those who she left behind: “Please remember me with hugs, smiles and laughter and telling each other I love you every time you meet for that is the way I’ll remember you. If you can only remember me with tears then don’t remember me at all.” Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements
