Belmont L. Dunk
Belmont L. Dunk, 89, of Winchester, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. Belmont was born in Winchester on Aug. 25, 1925, the son of Robert A. Dunk and Ida (Pietsch) Dunk. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Church. Belmont attended Zilss Memorial High School. He married Barbara Hart in June of 1950. Belmont served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the amphibious Corps on LST 945 on numerous island campaigns in the Pacific. He worked as a carpenter. He is survived by two sons: David Dunk and wife, Linda; and Dale Dunk all of Winchester; two brothers: Delbert “Herb” Dunk and Monroe Dunk both of La Grange; sister, Iola Perkins and husband, Lee, of Winchester; two great-grandchildren: Karissa Dancoe and Nicholas Puerta; and step-granddaughter, Kalyn Puerta. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Dunk; three brothers: Robert, Wilfred and Leonard Dunk; sister, Edie Dunk; and granddaughter, Vanessa Puerta. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services were held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. Burial followed at Winchester City Cemetery.
